Summer Camp Activities

Summer Camp Activities

What are summer camp activities like?

Summer camp is a great way for your child to stay busy during the summer months when too much free time can result in boredom and idleness. Summer camp activities are fun, social, and present your child with new adventures and opportunities to play and meet new friends.

Essentially, summer camp activities are broken up over the course of the day into a few parts. In the morning your child will arrive at camp, or wake up in the morning and meet his friends and counselors for breakfast. Over breakfast, the children can talk and eagerly anticipate the day together. Usually, the next activity is physical or fun to motivate the children and help start their energy for the day. Children will be paired up and placed in groups with a counselor who will guide the group, teach songs, and tell them about plans for the day.

Sometimes, in the mornings, the groups will convene and go for a hike through the natural environment or woods that surround their camp. Along the way, your child will sing the songs he has learned and be able to see and explore natural aspects of the environment like leaves, plants, bugs, and small animals like frogs.

Most summer camps reserve an hour a day for arts and crafts. Your child will learn to paint, do pottery, and learn how to create objects from paper, beads, and more. At noon, your child and his friends will break for lunch and refreshments, and then probably enjoy naptime around one o'clock. The afternoon is composed of an hour or two of swimming, a quick snack, and games until it's time to go home.

Summer camps for kids provide a fun and educational experience. Your child will make new friends and will never forget the fun summers he or she spent in camp.
