Summer Enrichment Programs & Learning Activities

Summer enrichment programs & learning activities for your child

Learning doesn't have to stop when the school year is over and your child begins summer vacation. You can plan some fun summer enrichment programs and learning activities to ensure your child's mind is active and challenged.

There are many summer enrichment activities you and your child can participate in together. The zoo is a great place to start. When you take your child to the zoo, he gets to see and learn about exotic animals that he may only otherwise see on television, or read about in books. Seeing the animals will spark your child's curiosity about the animal's lifestyle and natural habitat. He may even want to read books on the animals he sees. Taking your child to the aquarium will introduce him to fish and animals from around the world that he may have only seen in TV or books.

Another fun summer learning activity is visiting the museum. Like animals, historical objects are impressive and amazing to see in person. Many museums offer tours in which guides explain the historical significance of the displayed objects. Much of the art that you find in museums are historical artifacts and valuable objects. Taking your child to the museum will expose him to beautiful, historic items, while teaching him about history.

If you're like many parents who work during the summer, try to take these little trips on weekends with your child or on a day off. Many community centers also offer summer enrichment programs at low prices. Oftentimes, these programs will take children on educational field trips throughout the summer months.
