What are charter schools?

Public organizations fund charter schools. They operate as public schools, but act like private schools in some ways. Sponsors for charter schools have control over the curriculum and the general focus of the institution.

Because they are externally funded, your child can attend for free while receiving a top quality scholastic experience.

You may consider sending your child to a charter school if he displays an interest in a specific area. Many offer a strong focus on the arts, while others present a curriculum that is geared toward technology, science, or mathematics.

Because they are technically public schools, charter schools do not include religion in the curriculum. However, they often present a learning environment that gives your child a competitive academic edge, much like you would see in a private school.

Charter schools are different from other types of schools and are a fairly recent development in academics. They approach learning and academics rigorously like private schools but are secular and do not charge tuition. This allows your child to benefit from a high quality academic program without the extra cost associated with religious or other private schools.
